A region with a rich natural and cultural heritage.
The Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges offers a rich natural and cultural heritage and a wide variety of landscapes:
- The high Vosges consist of high meadows, surrounded by beech and fir forests.
- Between forests and moors, the plateau of a thousand ponds forms the southern part. The Vosges valleys covered with lakes, are stretching gently to the west.
- The Alsatian plain is full of constrast. Agriculture zones are close to industrial activity.
- A natural dry and warm climate predominates in the wine-growing-area.
The region of Sous-Vosgien is situated south of the Ballon d'Alsace.
A delicate natural and cultural landscape with many challenges
The Natural Reserve takes care of preserving the natural and cultural heritage. This also contributes to local development. That includes the maintenance of mountain farming, the preservation of traditional knowledge, the support of urban development projects and to inform and sensitize the public.
